PCC Covid 19 Guidance

  • When booking onto Club Activities or Events, all participants will need to read and agree to this PCC Covid 19 guidance. 
  • All Participants attending PCC Activities or Events are encouraged to maintain social distancing at all times, including on the water, i.e. 2 metres
  • Participants from a family do not need to maintain social distancing within their own family group
  • Participants are encouraged to use their own equipment, but Club equipment can be hired at the usual hire fee rate
  • Personal and club equipment is not to be shared during the activity.
  • Participants to “buddy up” with another participant, for the duration of the trip, to assist with moving kit and accessing and egressing the water and portaging during the trip.
  • However, participants who do “buddy up”, should maintain social distancing when working together.
  • Participants are encouraged to maintain good personal hygiene practices including:-
  • Regular hand washing
  • Cover mouth when sneezing or coughing, avoid touching face, nose and eyes
  • Keep your distance at all times
  • Purley Canoe Club has a Covid-19-Risk-Assessment” which is available on request from the club
  • This PCC Covid 19 Risk Assessment is reviewed regularly.
  • All payments for Club Events and Activities, must be made via the PCC Shop as part of the booking process in accordance with PCC Events Booking Terms & Conditions (Contact the Club for more details.)
  • The maximum group size is 6 (1 coach/trip leader to 5 other participants including any family participants / non paddlers)
  • All Non paddlers will need to book onto the trip via the PCC Shop but they will not be charged for the trip
  • The Club will attempt to be fair so as to allow as many club members to get at least one paddle in a month. Members need to be considerate of others when booking because places are limited.
  • The Club holds the right to cancel your booking in order to facilitate other Club members to participate on a trip.
  • Bookings must be made at least two days before the planned trip to allow the trip leader to finalise all planning.
  • Participants will only be able to hire boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and spray decks from the club at the usual hire fees and booked in advanced via the PCC Shop.
  • Participants can not Cags, to prevent cross contamination. 
  • Any participant who arrives at the trip without booking in advance will not be allowed to join the trip
  • A record, will be kept, of all the participants attending the trip – for “Track and Trace” purposes if someone contracts the virus at a later stage.
  • If participants do not want their details to be shared as part of this process they will not be allowed on the trip.
  • When booking onto the Club Activity or Event, all participants will need to read and agree to the PCC Covid 19 Consent Form, which will be sent to them, when they book onto any PCC activity or event.

  • All participants or family groups will need to carry a simple (basic) First Aid Kit and to self-treat any minor injuries.
  • All participants need to carry a face mask, gloves and sanitiser.
  • All participants must provide their own facilities to wash or sanitise their hands and their kit where appropriate, e.g. provide a 2 ltr bottle of water and a small bottle of washing up liquid
  • Participants will need to provide their own cags, in order to prevent cross contamination. Participants will not be able to hire this equipment from the club.
  • Participants must arrive already dressed for the activity. If you have a back entry zip on a dry suit, you need to be able to zip up/undo yourself or have support from a family member. If you cannot, then do not wear it.
  • Only participants who need to use club equipment to go to the club store.
  • Participants to stay in their car when they arrive at store and await direction from the key holder.
  • Only 1 participant in the store at any one time except when from the same household.
  • Participants need to collect their own hire equipment from the store
  • Participants need to wash the club equipment they have hired, at the the beginning and the end of the trip and put it away in the store using their own washing equipment, which they have brought with them.
  • All participants will ideally transport their paddling equipment, including hired  equipment, to the start point for the planned trip.
  • All hire equipment will be paid for, in advance, via the PCC Shop as part of the booking process in accordance with PCC Booking Terms & Conditions. (Contact the Club for more details.)
  • Participants will only be able to hire boats, paddles, buoyancy aids and spray decks from the club at the usual hire fees
  • Participants will not be able to hire cags, from the club, in order to prevent cross contamination.
  • The meeting place for all trips will be the trip start point and not the club store
  • All participants will need to be able to transport themselves and ideally their paddling equipment to the start point for the planned trip.
  • There is to be no car sharing except for people in the same household
  • Participants are encouraged to be independent when launching and landing their craft
  • Keep to social distancing when on the water. No rafting up.
  • In the event of a capsize, the swimmer is expected to swim to shore with their craft and paddle and empty their own craft
  • Anyone who displays or develops symptoms of Covid-19, prior to the trip, should inform the organiser and cancel their participation in the event.
  • Anyone who displays or develops symptoms of Covid-19, on a trip, should be sent home.
  • Anyone who displays or develops symptoms of Covid-19, after a Club trip, should inform the Club Safety officer and Trip Organiser so as to implement the “track and trace” procedures.

These PCC Covid 19 Guidance were agreed by the PCC Committee on the 7/7/2020, who will review these guidelines regularly.
