What is British Canoeing "Quality Club"?
In July 2022 Purley Canoe Club was accredited as a “British Canoeing (BC) Quality Club” by the BC Club Support Team.
This accreditation acknowledges the Club’s high standard of Governance, Safeguarding and its Values which promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (E.D.I).
James Hinves from the BC Club Support Team presented the Quality Club Accreditation Certificate to the Club’s President, Noel Humphrey at the Quality Club Accreditation Party on the 29th November 2022.
The following comments have been made regarding our accreditation as a BC Quality Club:-
The Club renews its BC Quality Club accreditation, annually, by completing a Quality Club Report and meeting with the British Canoeing Club Support Team each year.
Each year the Club is presented with a new Quality Club Certificate
On the 4th September 2023 and then again on the 6th September 2024, the Club was reaccredited with Quality Club. On the 6th September 2024 the Paddle Uk, Club Support Team, made the following comments:-.
“Congratulations to Purley Canoe Club on re-accrediting for Quality Club!
This is a reflection of the excellent delivery and the high standard of Governance, Safety, Safeguarding and E.D.I. which is either in place or being worked towards at your club. We hope that as a result of having been through the Club Improvement Programme it will have helped you in the process of continuous development at your club.”
The Club’s success in achieving “Quality Club” was mentioned in the British Canoeing Club Update’s which were circulated in August 2022.
The British Canoeing Quality Update stated:-
Quality Club continues to gather momentum and is being increasingly well received by those clubs who are working through it. The feedback from clubs who have now achieved accreditation has been extremely positive. 32 clubs have now signed up as working through the process this year, and some of these are now approaching the stage of looking to achieve accreditation.
Well done to Purley Canoe Club who are the first of this cohort to be formally signed off this year, with a number of other clubs not far behind them. They now join the 24 clubs who achieved ‘Quality Club’ status last year
