Safety of all participants

Purley Canoe Club has a Duty of Care to ensure the “Safety of all participants” and Safeguard them from Abuse. on all Club Activities.

Club Coaches, Committee Members and individual participants, also share the Club’s responsibility to implement its Duty of Care of maintaining all participants’ safety on Club Activities, by following the Club’s Code’s of Conduct.

The Club Coaches and Committee Members risk assess all Club activities before they are published on the Clubs programme of Events.

During all Club activities, the Club Coaches who are organising the Event, are continually risk assessing the Event to ensure safety is maintained throughout the Event.  

All Club Coaches have current First Aid training and they hold a current First Aid Qualification, in accordance with the  Paddle UK Coaching Update scheme.

The Club also has a Duty of Care to “Safeguard” all participants from Abuse.

Safeguarding all Participants

Purley Canoe Club has a “Duty of Care” to all its members, and participants on Club activities, to Safeguard Children and “Adults at Risk” from abuse, in accordance with our Values.

Therefore the Club has a “Welfare Officer”, and a “Deputy Welfare Officer” who Safeguard young people and adults at risk within the Club. These “Welfare Officer’s” are member’s of the Club’s Committee.

All Club Coaches have current Safeguarding training and they hold a BC Safeguarding Qualification, in accordance with the  Paddle UK Coaching Update scheme. . 

The Club also promotes all “Paddle UK Safeguarding Policies and Procedures”

The Club has a number of Safeguarding procedures which are also used to Safeguard its members.
